The State Union Speech

A speech given by the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, was presented on February 24th, 2026. Starting off with boasting, the idea that the country was in its “Golden Age” seemed prominent throughout his speech. Highlighting false information that would make the country seem better and “winning so we can’t stop winning”, Trump stated many false facts, including the financial state of the country. With the rough topic of tariffs and inflation, Trump stated that inflation was at an all time low of 1.7%. This information is not only false but can be proven by researching on the internet. The current state of inflation is actually at 2.4%.

Trump stated that there was no issue with the tariffs, but that was extremely false as it has been proven and shown that he’d been putting illegal tariffs on items coming in from other countries and is now struggling with how to “repay” all the people he stole money from. With a natural instinct to insult South Americans, Trump calls them aliens, forgetting the fact that no matter which America they are in, North, South, or Central America, every person is American and has a right to seek refuge and protection in the United States of America.

Another one of the country’s biggest blights is healthcare. Stating that he’d lowered the cost of most expensive prescription drugs and made them the least expensive in the “world”, he failed to state which drugs were made less expensive. He possibly could have made some sort of weight loss medicine less expensive and ignored medicines that people need more; diabetes medicine, cancer and medicines that help treat common or uncommon diseases. According to Trump, the Obamacare plan was just another way for Democrats to “scam” people and take the money from them. He then followed up by saying he’d lower healthcare costs while in fact that has been proven incorrect. Since Trump became president, healthcare costs have only begun to rise and continue to rise.

Passing new laws was very important to Trump. The Delilah law - a law preventing states from giving commercial drivers licenses to “illegal aliens”, The Save America Act - stopping “illegal aliens” and others from voting. With Trump under the idea that immigrants wouldn’t get voter ID’s because they were “cheating”, he mocked them, not understanding that many immigrants in fact cannot get voter IDs because they aren’t eligible. It’s not only immigrants who may not have voter IDs, but also poor people all over the country.

Moving on to talk about the snow situation in New York, Trump states that now, there is no way for “illegal aliens” to steal jobs because they need two forms of verification to be able to work, and that it’s the Democrats’ fault for shutting off funding for DHS and in turn shutting down the ability to get people to shovel snow in New York.

The state of the country with other countries is quite unstable. The current event in Venezuela and the kidnapping of the Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro, Trump stated that the country of Venezuela had given the U.S. 82 million tons of oil. Is it really giving to a country when it was most likely forced because the country’s president was captured? Of course, Venezuela isn’t the only international conflict. With the Russia- Ukraine war, Trump continued claiming that if he’d been president, the conflict with Russia and Ukraine never would have happened, he continues to exaggerate his success and the damage the Democrats did. The war with Russia and Ukraine had nothing to do with the United States- at all. The war had started after Russia had decided to take back Ukraine which was one of their territories during the Soviet Union. After the union broke apart, Russia still wanted to lay claim on Ukraine while Ukraine continued to live as an independent country.

Why state that “illegal aliens” will no longer work in this country, while a majority of illegal immigrants are doing many jobs in this country? Whether the job is seasonal or so unseen so that many others don’t even think about it existing, there will always be immigrants- illegal or not working in the United States of America. Why immediately assume that anybody who enters this country illegally is some sort of violent monster instead of hearing them out? Why must you create these additional laws based on “illegal aliens” that are unnecessary? Why lie to the people and say that you wish to protect them when you in fact are the very person who is scamming them? As the Andrew Jackson of this decade, Donald J. Trump pushes people from their homes against their will. To lie, to deceive, to abuse and to blame shouldn’t be characteristics of a president, as those are characteristics of a terrible president. To tell the people the truth, to be transparent in your actions, to truly be doing the right thing to not only protect this country but to aid the other countries in need around the world should be the characteristics of a great president. Donald Trump is not one of those great presidents and will never be.
